Covid-19 'lockdown' and Euro Auctions, Dormagen, hosts live online sale behind closed doors with Europe wide appeal and total sale value of €10.95 million!

The much-anticipated Euro Auctions construction and agricultural machinery sale held in Dormagen, Germany, on 6th & 7th May was held behind closed doors because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

With the Covid-19 pandemic in mind, Euro Auctions made the decision to progress with the Dormagen sale on the 6th & 7th May, using the format recently put in place at its permanent sites in the UK, Australia and Dubai, with consignors committing to the auction, and with machinery already at Dormagen ready for sale.  

 

With consignors trusting Euro Auctions to gain best price for their equipment and machinery, a closed-door sale conducted live via the internet, provided the same excitement as the real sale. With video clips and photography of all lots for sale, streamed live on the Euro Auctions online sales platform, giving bidders the feel of a live auction.

Controlling the sale in 'real time', a team of 'live' auctioneers operating from the USA offices being the 'glue' that bonded all the elements of the sale together. The IT department in company HQ in Northern Ireland, also facilitated providing the platform for the sale.

 

Now, well established with German buyers and sellers this auction reports increasing popularity, and strong in all areas of machinery and agricultural equipment. With over 2,600 lots, with many new un-registered machines, the online bidding was fast and furious, the final hammer total was €10.94 million, with the 'top' buying countries being: Germany, Poland, Netherlands and the UK.

Over 200 vendors from 27 countries participated sending equipment and machinery to this now popular two-day sale. 14% were first time vendors, with 39% of vendors coming from Germany.

 

Bidder & First Time Registration Increase

First time registrations for bidder accounts have been increasing steadily at each Dormagen sale, such is the popularity of this auction. Since the sale in December 2019, the number of bidders has jumped by 70%. New 'first time' registration also increased in the last 6-months by 48%, true indicator that buyers in Germany, Poland, Netherlands, and Romania, trust Euro Auctions to deliver value, quality and choice. Of those first-time registrations to bid in the May sale 16% bought during the sale.
