International Popularity Grows for Euro Auctions’ Dormagen Sale

Latest auction hammer in June tops €10 million.

The recent used construction and agricultural equipment auction organised by Euro Auctions at its Dormagen, Germany site in late June has exceeded previous sales records. The final hammer total was in excess of €10,800,000; again proving that quality equipment is in real demand and that auctions are increasingly becoming the preferred purchase route of choice for a growing number of international machinery buyers in Germany.

Nearing 1,000 eager bidders from Germany, across Europe and further afield registered to attend or participate online at this sale; fiercely competing for the 2,400+ quality used and ‘as new’ pieces of equipment consigned to this two-day sale by almost 200 vendors, from almost 30 different countries; 20 of whom were first time consignors.

There was a wide selection of equipment available at this Dormagen auction, with the top lot being a CaseCX470B high performance excavator that went for €162,000 to an extremely happy customer in Bosnia. Other notable high-ticket lots included a couple of 2011 VolvoA40F6x6 articulated dump trucks that went for €106,000 each while the average lot price was almost €4,500, so some excellent deals were available. One of the more unusual lots, that created much interest, was a Bauer / RTG Rammtechnik RG16TS drilling rig / pile driver, complete with telescopic leader and expanding undercarriage, that sold for €99,000 to a buyer based in Germany.

“We were delighted with both the quality of equipment being consigned and the high level of international interest created by our increasingly popular Dormagen sales,” stated Erik Kortum, Euro Auctions’ country manager for Germany. “Whilst the largest contingent of bidders were located in Germany, as one would expect, Poland, The Netherlands, UK and Romania were each well represented and closely followed by other European countries. We also attract significant interest from the Middle East, from across North Africa as well as contingents from North America and the Asia Pacific region. In total over 50 countries were represented at this auction and the vast majority of lots were acquired by European based bidders.”

“This year Euro Auctions celebrates 12 years of operations in Dormagen and a total of 20-years in equipment auction business,” added Jonnie Keys, Operations Manager of Euro Auctions. “Today we host around 60 auctions each year with over 75,000 lots, worth over €400 million being consigned by around 6,000 vendors and these are marketed to over 150,000 potential bidders now in 100+ countries around the globe. For anyone who has never attended an auction at Dormagen we would encourage them to come along and see the massive quantity and the quality of equipment offered and they can be confident that they will acquire quality, reliable, yet affordable equipment.”
