Euro Auctions Record Breaking Sale

The latest Euro Auctions sale of new and used construction equipment took place on German soil, at the company’s auction site in Dormagen, near Köln. However it attracted not only German customers, but bidders from nearly 30 countries in Europe and further afield.

The 2-day auction was Euro Auctions largest sale to date and over 1600 Lots of industrial plant, construction and agricultural equipment went under the hammer. New machines included 2 unused JCB JS260NLC’s which fetched an impressive €68,000 each. Older machines held strong prices with 2 1999 Liebherr L564 Wheeled Loaders making €30,000 each.

Euro Auctions story has been one of successful growth since its first auction in Dormagen over 3 years ago. The company was established in 1998 in Northern Ireland and since then has conducted more than 50 major industrial auctions in the UK and Ireland. The first auction on German soil was a 1-day auction in March 2006 with just over 800 Lots. With a reputation for excellent services, including free Internet Bidding and efficient transportation, Euro Auctions has continued to thrive in Germany, with each auction growing bigger and bigger. The customer base has also grown and changed in the past 3 years from solely local dealers back in 2006 to all different types of customers in 2009 including contractors/end-users from all over Germany. Euro Auctions has also built relationships with larger local companies like Firma Peters GmbH & Co. KG. The latest 2-day auction, which took place on 28th & 29th May, was the most successful yet and contained more Lots from more Sellers than ever before.

The auction broke all Dormagen records in terms of Registered Bidders and Buyers. More than 370 Bidders participated in the auction. As well as the highest ever number of German Bidders, there were registrations from Australia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Syria and Singapore. Many of these Bidder countries regularly attend Euro Auctions sales in Leeds, UK and are now beginning to participate in the Dormagen auctions. Euro Auctions Managing Director, Derek Keys, was not entirely surprised at the array of countries participating at the auction as worldwide interest before the auction was considerable. “We were inundated with requests for information prior to the Dormagen auction, as a result of our worldwide advertising. Visits to from countries in Europe and beyond increased by 10% since the last auction in Dormagen in February.”

Feedback from Sellers at the sale was extremely positive. “The record number of Lots at this auction shows that Sellers are confident selling at unreserved auction. Sellers can reach a global buying audience by selling their surplus assets with Euro Auctions.” Euro Auctions attracts international buyers due to the quantity and quality of the machines on offer. “We had a great selection of late model equipment in last week’s auction, including many 2008 JCB, and Loxam machines, and the knowledge that every item would be sold fairly and with no reserve prices brought in hundreds of local and international bidders. There was vigorous bidding onsite and online, with strong prices as a result. Excavators in particular attracted international attention – one Bidder from Slovenia bought six 10-ton excavators over the internet.”

“We are extremely happy with the levels of participation and the prices achieved. Euro Auctions is well positioned to endure the economic downturn, and unreserved auctions are now more attractive than ever to Buyers and Sellers as more people turn to our auctions to meet their equipment needs.’
