Euro Auctions USA First Sale is a Hit with Local Market

The first Euro Auctions USA sale on June 26, 2013 attracted great interest from the local market with high numbers of internet bidding from North America.

Euro Auctions USA held its first ‘Absolute Auction’ on June 26 at its new North American headquarters in Newnan, on a site that runs parallel to Interstate 85, at Exit 51, south east of Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The general view by all who attended, bought or sold machinery, was that this one day sale was indeed a great success.

A total of 387 lots were presented for sale, including consignments from some of the largest rental companies in the US and other regional equipment and machinery dealers. Registration from interested bidders was brisk, with 374 buyers registering to bid on the day. Physical bidders on the floor constituted the majority of purchasers and a massive 35% of all sales were conducted online from the USA. This was a 100% unreserved sale, with all lots being sold to the highest bidder on the day.

As expected there was a lot of interest from buyers located in south east USA, with particular interest coming from many of the major equipment and machinery specialists in the state of Georgia. There was a strong demand for quality, low hours equipment, which has been a common global trend at other Euro Auctions sale sites. In this instance, buyers’ needs were fulfilled on the day, thanks to the high quality of the stock on display.

Due to targeted marketing by the Euro Auctions team, buyers with specialised interest were matched with many of the lots, in which they had interest. As a result prices were strong and both buyers and sellers were happy with the outcome. Bidders from 24 countries worldwide registered to participate in this sale; such was the success of the pre-auction global marketing campaign.

Jonnie Keys, Vice President of Euro Auctions commented: “With a first sale like this there is always an element of both trepidation and anticipation regarding the outcome; however we have been extremely pleased with the final result. All the lots that Euro Auctions prepared for sale were received well. We were delighted with the participation of the local market, with 85% of sales attributed to American buyers of which 25% came from the Georgia area. The turnout on the day of both bidders and attendees was excellent and expressions of interest have been made for the next sale.”

“We had long aspired to enter the USA market and by acquiring this site in late 2012 we located Euro Auctions squarely at the hub of the American equipment industry. We have excellent relationships with major US players with whom we secured some exceptional construction and industrial machinery from across south east USA for this first auction. The sale was a real success with buyers and sellers alike and we are now working hard on making the next sale an even bigger success.” concluded Jonnie Keys.

This auction marks the start of regular sales at the Atlanta site, with another sale planned for October 2nd and four further auctions envisaged for 2014.
