Yoder & Frey (US)

Yoder & Frey reports massive boost to online interest following introduction of new international online bidding platform

USA Heavy Equipment auction specialist reaps benefits of global internet reach

May 08 2017: Yoder & Frey (Leading auctioneers of heavy construction equipment in the USA) have recently implemented a new FREE internet bidding platform and saw an explosion in online interest and bidding at its most recent Ashland, Ohio, auction.

Bidding was brisk at the one-day event with a  mix of machinery going under the hammer; and online sales were up a massive $1.5 m over the previous auction, clearly demonstrating the international appeal and growing demand for quality used construction and related equipment.  Buyers from across the USA and from over 95 countries worldwide signed up and used the new online platform, developed by Yoder & Frey’s international partner Euro Auctions, itself a leader in the unreserved industrial plant, construction equipment and agricultural machinery auctions sector since 1998.

“The new online sales platform is not only robust, safe, secure and easy to use, it is also totally free for bidders to sign up to and to buy from,” states Peter Clark, CEO of Yoder & Frey.  “The technology has been used by auctioneers for over 20 years and to date has recorded global sales of almost $1 billion worth of machinery with over 20,000 registered online bidders. There are no barriers for buyers; it provides a truly global reach and is also great for consignors.  Bidders can watch and listen to the auctions as its live streamed.  What’s more, we can directly market each individual piece of equipment to a known audience of over 140,000 registered users plus we can analyse the bidding and final hammer data in detail; further helping us target interested buyers with quality and relevant lots.”

This new Internet platform will next feature at the upcoming Yoder & Frey sale in Kissimmee, Florida on May 24th, followed by the auctions at Saugatuck, MI on May 31st and in Ashland, OH on June  21st, and means these auctions will reach out to a truly global audience.   Consignors will be able to target many more potential buyers while those looking to buy will increasingly be able to locate and bid on the exact specification of quality used heavy equipment they require.  Being free and easy to sign up and use along with the robust and proven performance of the platform all add to its appeal and should help expand the reach and appeal of auctions to many more people.

The platform has seen an increase in transactions year on year with a 25% increase from 2015 to 2016 and the total for the first four months of 2017 already standing at $80 million with the highest value item sold online valued at almost $1,000,000.  The platform has also been used by buyers located in almost half of all the 196 countries around the world today, and by all nations in the top 70 in economic terms.  To date a staggering 100,000 lots have been sold via the Internet using this tried and tested platform.

Peter Clark concluded: “While bidders will always want to turn up to our auctions, see the equipment first hand, kick the tyres, and interact with their buddies, a growing number of busy or oversees buyers who wouldn’t otherwise be able to attend one of our auctions prefer to use computers or handheld smart devices to either bid on specific lots or simply monitor the used equipment markets.  We’ve seen growing online demand over recent years, and are pleased to introduce this new robust, well tested and easy to use Internet platform to our customers, achieving a massive leap forward in performance and reach without risk; enabling our buyers and consignors to reap real advantage over the coming months and years.”

Yoder & Frey initiates recruitment drive as part of rapid expansion plan

USA heavy equipment auction specialist looks to extend operations and global reach

June 05 2017: Yoder & Frey (leading auctioneers of heavy construction equipment in the USA) is looking to significantly expand operations by recruiting 14 new permanent US territory managers over coming months.

“Yoder & Frey is currently on a planned growth programme,” commented Peter Clark, CEO of Yoder & Frey.  “With increased visibility in the sector, greater market knowledge and more exposure to the global market place, we’re already seeing a significant upturn at our auctions with increases in volumes and hammer totals.  Our decision to recruit new territory managers will quickly help further build our position by raising brand awareness and result in more of the right used and near new equipment being consigned into our forthcoming auctions.”

Yoder & Frey is seeking territory managers to cover areas across the USA that include Georgia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio, New York, Kentucky and Tennessee.  In each case their role will be to identify and work with potential consignors and secure heavy equipment consignments and fill the regional auction yards ahead of each scheduled sale. Liaison with international sites around the globe will also be required, particularly if shipping equipment to or from these locations will result in auction prices for the consignments being maximized.

In each case the new Yoder & Frey territory managers will be self-starters and machinery enthusiasts with proven equipment knowledge and established sales networks. They will be expected to build rapport with customers, be available to travel internationally and will become key part of the rapidly growing team.  Each role has an attractive base salary plus an uncapped, performance-based bonus, includes company car and other benefits plus ongoing professional training and development.

Peter Clark continued: “Whilst exports of new US manufactured construction equipment has been declining over recent years, domestic sales have remained buoyant and there is a thriving used equipment market here that’s poised to soar over the next few years.  With President Trump now promising to ‘rebuild America’ and a growing number of major infrastructure projects, said to be valued at approaching US$150 billion being scheduled, we will be perfectly positioned to support this growth by being part of the solution.  Having the right people in place to manage this growth is vital which is why were actively looking to recruit new territory managers now and with them successfully expand our operation.”

Bidding has been brisk at all the recent Yoder & Frey auctions with considerable interest being shown in the vast majority of the quality used heavy machinery and commercial lots being sold.  Internet bidding has also featured heavily at each of these sales with a significant jump being reported in the number of lots being successfully sold via this route, clearly demonstrating the international appeal and growing demand for quality used construction and related equipment.  Buyers from across the USA and from upwards of 90 countries worldwide have already signed up and used the new online platform.

Yoder & Frey pioneered the now famous annual winter sale in Kissimmee, Florida over 40 years ago, plus regularly holds other sales there each year.  Upcoming events include auctions in Ashland, OH on June  21st, with sales in Kissimmee in Florida, Darlington, Pennsylvania and Saugatuck, MI in September and beyond.

Euro Auctions acquires USA auction giant Yoder & Frey

Plant and machinery auction groups merge - expanding global capabilities, expertise and reach

Euro Auctions, Europe’s leading auctioneers of industrial plant, construction equipment and agricultural machinery, has acquired one of the USA’s oldest and most respected heavy machinery auctioneers, Yoder & Frey,  founded 52 years ago and the originators of the now famous annual Kissimmee winter consignment auction in Florida – now in its 43rd year.

The venture will see Yoder & Frey become a Euro Auctions brand extension, creating a strategic partnership that will see the Yoder & Frey name continue in the USA with additional global reach and support from Euro Auctions.

The acquisition will see the joint brand create a stable and strategic partnership from which the local market knowledge of Yoder & Frey, combined with the global market expertise of Euro Auctions, will provide greater options when buying and selling their equipment. Together, the businesses will create a stronger company with expanded capabilities and a brand that a global client base can trust in.

Within the USA, Euro Auctions currently operates a sales site in Atlanta, Georgia, this will be re-branded as Yoder & Frey to strengthen its US portfolio in Ohio, Pennsylvania and the now world famous *Kissimmee winter consignment auction in Florida, collectively adding six or seven new sales to the Euro Auction global calendar in 2017 and beyond.

Jonnie Keys, Operations Manager of Euro Auctions comments: “We are extremely excited to announce the merger with Yoder & Frey in the USA as this gives Euro Auctions a strong US brand with which to extend the reach the business has globally and achieve a stronger presence there.  Yoder & Frey has achieved a leading position in the US market and strategically within the important Florida region. Working with Peter Clark and his team, we aim to expand the operations in the USA, introducing the American market to the global reach of Euro Auctions, whilst building the brand to the good of both Yoder & Frey and Euro Auctions.”

Peter Clark, CEO of Yoder & Frey comments: “Working with Euro Auctions, the Yoder & Frey brand will gain exposure to a global market place and increased access to a global database of both buyers and sellers. The equipment that comes along with this association will help grow the Yoder and Frey brand. From working with the Euro Auction’s team previously, we are aware of our similar core focus of delivering a quality service and a competitive price, while also never losing sight of our customers’ true needs. I believe it will be a good fit for both companies and look forward to a good start together at the Florida auction from February 6-11, 2017.”

The new venture will see Yoder & Frey provide its loyal customers with a greater number of choices and platforms to buy, sell and dispose of equipment and assets when, where and how they want to, whether that be onsite or online.

Jonnie Keys concludes: “Euro Auctions customers will benefit from exposure to new, enthusiastic and loyal customer base of buyers in the USA looking for good consignments of machinery and equipment from Europe and the rest of the world, especially during the now legendary Kissimmee, Florida Winter Consignment Auction which will run from 6th to 11th February 2017. These are very exciting times for Euro Auctions.”
